Community Center Library

by Richard J. Robbins

Our idea to start a borrowing library was to provide residents with an alternative to the Pahoa Public Library.  The library, because of being located at Pahoa High School, limits when residents can utilize the facility and its resources (open to the public after 1:00 p.m. when school is in session).

We rallied the residents asking for donations of paperback and hardback books, puzzles and book cases.  At this time we are happy to report that our idea has been turned into over 500 books of various interests.  While this may seem to be an insignificant number when compared to the  public library, it has accomplished our objective as the flow of residents seeking reading materials continues to suppress our expectations.

Mahalo from the board to all who have helped to make an idea become reality.
